Wired Microphone Starter Package
What exactly is an amplifier?
An amplifier is an electrical component that increases a signal, usually by increasing the voltage and the current.
What does it mean to operate an amplifier in Bridge Mode as opposed to Stereo Mode?
Frequently amplifiers will operate in two modes, Bridge mode or Stereo mode. When an amplifier is operating in Stereo mode each channel is functioning independently, with a single input powering a single channel. Bridge mode, also referred to as parallel mode, combines two output channels which are powered by a single input. This will result in a voltage output twice that of an individual channel operating in Stereo mode.
Which Technical Pro Amplifiers can operate in either Bridge or Stereo mode?
Technical Pro offers multiple amplifiers which function in either Bridge or Stereo mode. Currently every model in the L-Series and Slimpro Series is bridgeable. Additionally, the PP-2000 and PP-3000 are available in Bridge or Stereo mode.
What is the difference between a crossover and low-pass filter?
A typical speaker can’t properly drive all the sounds in the audio spectrum. A crossover takes the signal and separates it into frequency bands, low frequencies, mid frequencies and high frequencies. A low-pass filter, which can be found on the Sub and Nuke subwoofers, eliminates or cuts off the high frequencies allowing only low frequencies to continue to the subwoofer. A low-pass filter is typically adjustable allowing the user to choose which frequencies to continue to the subwoofer.
What is a Frequency Response?
The frequency response is the range in Hertz (Hz) that a device can reproduce versus amplitude. The widely accepted frequency range of human hearing is 20Hz-20kHz.
What does impedance measure?
Stated in ohms, impedance measures the resistance of a device to an Alternating Current (AC). Put simply, it measures how easily a device will conduct a current.
What is Sensitivity?
Sensitivity is the minimum power an amplifier must supply to a speaker so the speaker can produce satisfactory volume ratings.
How do I hook up speakers to the amp?
On the rear of every amplifier there are either one or multiple output jacks. The outputs vary by model, but typically will be in the form of RCA, Speakon, Balanced XLR, and Banana binding post. Simply choose the output type on your amplifier and connect it to the input on your speaker.
What exactly is the Hybrid amplifier and what makes it so special?
The Hybrid is the all in one solution for any user. Whether you’re looking for a home receiver or a power amp to power up to four speakers in your club, the Hybrid is up to the task. It’s the versatility of the Hybrid that makes it so unique. The Hybrid is a four channel amplifier with a built-in tuner, preamp, mic, mixer and crossover. Having all these features built-into one sleek package puts the Hybrid in a class above the rest.
When hooking up an amplifier to a PC the volume is very low, why?
In this particular case, when hooking up an amplifier to a PC, the volume is being controlled by the computer speakers. Therefore to adjust the volume, the user must adjust the volume on the actual speaker and not on the amplifier.
If an amplifier goes into “Clip Mode”, how long should I wait before turning it on again?
If your amplifier goes into “Clip Mode” typically waiting 2-3 minutes before turning it on again is suffice.
When loading amplifiers into a Rack, how much space should be left between each amplifier to allow the amplifier to “breathe”?
All Technical Pro amplifiers, with the exception of the Slimpro, and vented and cooled from the back, so rack spacing should not be an issue so long as the back of the amplifier is not covered. The Slimpro amplifier vents from the roof of the unit and therefore about .5 inches should be left exposed on the top of the amplifier.
What is the difference between Technical Pro’s Powered and Passive Speakers?
A powered speaker is just like a passive speaker with one important exception, a built-in amplifier. With a built-in amplifier you can connect your source (ex. CD player) to a preamp and then straight to your speaker. The amplifier in the speaker will then drive the sound.
Can an iPod be connected to any of the Technical Pro amplifiers?
Yes, many if not all products work with iPod just check to see if it has a aux input and your all set!

----
Technical Pro’s history traces back to 1971 with a retail electronics store in the South Bronx section of New York. In an era when Brooklyn was distilling beer and New York baseball was more than just a sport.
As the word got out that these guys really knew their stuff about audio and entertainment systems, their small store in the Bronx, began to thrive. Having a keen eye for innovative designs, and a deep rooted passion for music, they saw a void in the audio market.
Performance of audio equipment fell miserably short of customer’s expectations - real professional products were simply not being offered to the average consumer. Rather than selling other company’s “cookie cutter” product, they realized that the only viable approach was to start from the ground up, and totally redesign audio product with the end user in mind.
While they were turning their passion for sound into a reality, they had no idea what they were starting would eventually become one of the industry’s most respected and innovative audio brands. Their unprecedented approach to sound reproduction came much closer to the essence and emotional impact of live music and won immediate acclaim. The quest for better sound was on.
1990 Technical Pro began wholesale its product to other retailers, operating out of its own store on Delancey Street. Word spread. Retailers began flocking in. Eventually, the demand for product made it impossible to fulfill orders out of their retail location. The time to expand to the next level had arrived.
2010 and beyond: Never resting on their laurels, Technical Pro expanded into pro, sound-stage and portable audio, with the same approach they’ve used from the beginning – offer superior sound and innovative features to anyone who shares their passion for music, from consumer to professional.
